Wanderlust or Homing Beacon?

Are you still figuring out your big love or are you moving in that direction?

I like to travel, and I keep coming back to Rome, Italy. I joked with a friend that I don’t have wanderlust, I have a homing beacon. There is something for me in Rome that I’m not done with, so I keep going back. I love the city, the people, the language, and of course the food, and maybe I’ll never be done with Rome, and I’m okay with that. As long as I love it, I’ll keep going in that direction.

As far as your life and goals, do you have wanderlust or a homing beacon?

If you have wanderlust, you’re trying new things, meeting new people, open to seeing what clicks and going with the wind. It’s more about the process of exploration, expansion, and experience.

If you’re moving in one direction, toward one goal, that is a homing beacon; you’re homing in on something, drawn like a magnet.

I’ll compare these concepts with my creative practices. With my art, drawing, and painting, I have wanderlust. I want to draw a wide variety of subjects and play with my paints, trying new techniques and color combinations. With my writing practice, I am revising my novel; I am taking slow steps to complete a large project with a definite end-point.

Neither is better. They both have different intentions and energies. Just notice which is activated for you and honor the energy.
