Last year, I hosted Align Time, a weekly alignment check-in for balance, fulfillment, and satisfaction. A few of my prompts got more hits than others, so I’ll elaborate on those here on the blog.
For Jan 26, 2016, I said: Love-Loathe is about noticing your perceptions and whether you are focusing on things you love/give you positive emotions or things you loathe/give you negative emotions. Neither is better or worse, just notice where you are on this spectrum and where you’d like to be.
Sometimes, we need to do things we don’t like to do. I loathe cleaning the bathtub, but I love taking bubble baths. It’s just so awkward stretching and trying to apply pressure to the sponge on the far side of the tub! I hate it. Yet it’s something I must do if I want to take a bath. However, once I’m in the bath, I don’t continue to think about how much I hate cleaning the tub – I’m too busy enjoying the positive emotions of the bath!
This alignment check-in asks you to notice where your focus is. Do you replay stressful interactions in your mind? Are you fully present when you receive a gift or spend time with someone?
Where are you on the Love-Loathe spectrum? Is that where you want to be?
