Creativity Dis-ease 1: Blocked ARTeries

Coach Blog 083116 creativity dis-ease 1 blocked arteries In my role as a creativity coach, I’ve identified 12 creativity dis-eases that get us off-track from our art. Each month, I’ll highlight one.

This month, we’re talking about “blocked ARTeries.” Can you relate?

You feel blocked. Stuck. You can’t move forward. You are desparate for flow but don’t know how to make it happen. The more you think about how stuck you are, the more you feel blocked. It’s a vicious cycle.

The trick with this creativity dis-ease is that flow isn’t something that you find; it’s something that you do. You need to tap back into creative flow and get your creative juices flowing again. Try taking small art breaks throughout your day just to doodle, color, sing, dance, or do whatever creative expression calls to you in the moment. By using your creativity, you strengthen your creative muscles through repetition. When your muscles are stronger, you can do heavier lifting and tackle that creative project you’ve been blocked on.

What do you think? Have you experienced “blocked ARTeries”?
