Respect Your Past

Today is Veterans Day in the U.S., a day when we honor the service and sacrifice of our military veterans. Our veterans have often gone through things we civilians can’t even imagine, and they deserve our respect and admiration. We can use this day to remind us to spend a little time this week honoring ourselves as well.

Coach Blog 111113 I invite you to give a little thought to your own service and sacrifice. We’ve all been through tough times and made tough decisions; we all have metaphoric battle scars. Spend a moment and think about how these challenges helped you grow into the person you are today and appreciate your accomplishments.

Respect your past, honor your past, and look to your present. Your past created your present, but your present creates your future. Align what you want to create with what you are doing today. Your past doesn’t determine your future. You have the power to change course if that’s what you want, but don’t discount everything you did to get you to where you are today. There are no mistakes, just learning opportunities.

Learn from your past and create your future.
