The word “august” is both a month and an adjective.
1. dignified or imposing: an august presence
2. of noble birth or high rank: an august lineage
[C17: from Latin augustus; related to augere, to increase or augment]
The Italian word “augere” is also a root for the word “augur”:
-verb (used with object)
3. to divine or predict, as from omens; prognosticate.
4. to serve as an omen or promise of; foreshadow; betoken: Mounting sales augur a profitable year.
What can you augur from your August? What omens did you receive? What are you foreshadowing for the rest of the year?
For me, I’m trying to foreshadow a positive fiction writing experience this fall and winter. I’m easing back into a writing routine and reconnecting with my projects. I’m also trying to foreshadow a commitment to my reiki training by doing a session on myself each day.
Each day, you are planting seeds of intention. Whatever sprouts next month, you sowed this month. What are you sowing? Are you planting seeds with a positive intention, or are you letting seeds plant themselves haphazardly?
Pay attention to the omens and foreshadowing you’re receiving for your own life. A sore throat could foreshadow a cold, or it could foreshadow you taking extra echinacea and staying healthy. You are getting clues about your life all the time. What are these clues telling you? How are you acting on them?
