Everyone needs a break now and then. I’ve talked about natural cycles before; sometimes you have energy to get a lot done and sometimes you only have energy to sit on the couch and watch Star Trek: The Next Generation reruns on DVR. Both are fine options in their turn.
Summer vacation is a tradition in the U.S. Kids get long breaks from school and need to be kept entertained. Families get together on camping trips and barbeques. It’s all well and good.
Allow yourself time off, but don’t vacate your dream or goal all together. Pick a date to resume your planning and projects; perhaps the day after Labor Day. Maybe put a reminder on your bathroom mirror or in your wallet symbolizing your goal. You can take the summer off so long as you get back to your important things come the fall.
It’s good, even essential, to rest and recharge, but when it’s time to get back to doing, bring your goals along with you.
