Graduation – what comes after you meet a goal?

It’s that time of year when high schools and colleges wrap for the year and unleash millions of eager graduates upon the world. But graduation is both the end of something and the beginning of something new.

The word “graduation” implies a transition. The root “grade” comes from the latin for “step” (gradus) – you’re stepping into a new role.

Coach Blog 052713 Every time you take a step, you’re graduating. Keep moving. Keep growing. Keep doing.

When you take an important step, like finishing college, celebrate! Then take the next step. You don’t need to have your whole future planned out; just look for the next step and the one after that.

When you finish a big project, celebrate! Then start the next project. Or maybe your project failed; learn what you can, clear things away, and then start the next thing.

Keep graduating.
